Potential

Imagine hitting the pause button before we allow ourselves to feel cheated, left out or unworthy.  How do we feel when someone is doing, being or having something we desire? Are we wondering why not me, what about my dreams? Is our belief in the potentiality of others over self? Do we think that we are less significant by nature or do we view the Universal Forces as unfair ? Maybe we simply think we’ve drawn life’s short straw.  Are we ready to shift our thoughts to those of abundance and personal potential or are we content in feelings of complacency, self pity, lack and disappointment? Imagine how far would we fly, how great would we be if we believed as much in our own abilities as we do in those of others...

Today as I was waiting for a traffic light I saw a beautiful sign blowing softly in the breeze for a successful Yoga Studio across the street. At first the sign’s design caught my attention and then I thought “ She is so lucky to have a wonderful accomplished business.” Instantly I felt a brief feeling of disappointment for my lack of such things and quickly something stirred within me distracting my thoughts to a new, more nourishing place. First I began to feel joy for her success and then my mind flooded with thoughts that said “If she is blessed in this great way do I not have that same potential for blessings?  If this could happen for her, and it did, why couldn’t it be true for me if I chose it ?”  I immediately propelled myself into a powerful mindset that was open to ideas that I don’t generally think. I learned from this quick experience, in the time it took for the light to change, that I am the only one preventing, or propelling myself into doing what I want. I know that I am the creator of my experience, therefore I fill my life with what I desire, my life is by my design. Once again I felt empowered and light. I was reminded that my choices are my own and I can celebrate the things I do or not do as I choose.

Our past has prepared us. We have acquired all the tools to move into any challenge we desire. Life has been our classroom,
teaching us to do what we feel would bless us and those who cross our path. We are the one’s who've placed boundaries and limits on our lives and abilities. It is up to us to recognize our patterns and shift into a mind of limitlessness with a knowing that we are well equipped to move forward, trained in uncountable ways with information tucked into the corners of our minds waiting to be used to full potential. Our life has unfolded and educated us in the same way the future will, building within us the strengths, ideas, creativity and power to fulfill dreams and goals step by step.  Greater are we than we know, exponential in spirit and power, living only in the limits of our physical container ( body )  yielding to those limits rather than going beyond them. Mediocrity does not have to be an option. We can step beyond our limited sight into the vast world of unknown and undone things. This is how great inventions are created, new trends and thought patterns are formed, how the world is changed and broadened. Our lives  mirror the greatness of our times as we reflect on past history. Generations before us have laid the groundwork. They pressed forward in the face of adversity, teaching us that something can be made from nothing. The mere power of their intentions had the potential to move them farther than they thought or dreamed.  They showed us the vastness of the human spirit and the depth of the soul.

I am blessed to live within a family of Craftsmen. From my grandfather who was a plasterer and carpenter to my dad and uncles who followed in Grandpa’s footsteps building a life through diligent and hard work. I was privy to the minds of these great men, whose hands of gold built homes, buildings, furniture and a family business which lives on for 70 years. Making something out of nothing was my family’s theme and mantra.  Planks of wood became cabinets, tables, fences and furniture, while piles of brick and pans of mortar became structures to house their business. I learned of the magic that lies in the imagination and desire of the heart through the love these men had for their families and business. I know that anything is possible  because I witnessed it by their great example. I know that everything is truly made from what seems to be nothing except a dream, a thought, a desire of the individual.  I am eternally thankful for this knowing as it empowers me to show up in my life, blessing the work of my own hands and honoring these men in all I do and for teaching me such priceless lessons.

I am defined by how I embrace, believe and trust myself, not defined by what I do, what I haven’t done or by any other measure, except loving, accepting, and encouraging myself and others with compassion. I am a student of life... I can do anything I want, I can be whatever I choose and there is no time limit, no guideline that I must measure myself by.

I know that we can make our world a great place if each of us comes to the party as our best, unstoppable, loving, joy filled self.

Empowering Tip of the Day:  Reflect on how you measure your success and be honest with yourself. Does it feel right?  Move into the potential that is ready to be unleashed by knowing the greatness that you embody. Take a chance and step outside your comfort zone, start a new process, take up meditation, walk in nature, find some music that takes you outside the confines of your thoughts and soar within the notes. Expand your mind by reading an inspirational book, take a Yoga class or plan a weekend retreat. You are so worth the investment of your time and self care... No one can give it to you but YOU....  And you never know what may come from it... Something from nothing.... Yesssssss for certain. :-)

The decision is ultimately ours to live in Pity or Power... what will it be? We can only be in one.

Life is a journey, not a destination.

Feel free to post your questions and comments. I look forward to hearing from you. Remember we are all on this journey growing and learning as we go, so your input will bring enlightenment to many.

In Power, Peace & Love,

  1. Nice one! Think big and then do it! A relevant poem ...

“I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
    However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

    I worked for a menial’s hire,
    Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
    Life would have willingly paid.”
